In art, my narrative moves quickly, so I choose acrylics as a fast drying medium to match. This allows me to capture my feelings as they rise before they fade and move to the next layer, next feeling. I don’t like to overthink, I want to feel and create in the moment.
I am very outgoing and love to travel and meet people - art crosses any language barriers, and unites us as human. I also love rainy days where I feel the British weather is giving us permission to stop, take a moment of solitude to reflect, and to create.
Through my art I capture untold stories about women, their strength, their softness, their vulnerability, their power. In them I reflect pieces of myself and fragments of the people I meet along the way, the true women. Painting feels like a dialogue - their eyes pull me in, telling stories, telling me their backgrounds. Some stories are theirs, some are mine. Each portrait is a mirror, part them, part me. Through this intimacy, I redefine femininity, making the female form central to conversations about identity, beauty, motherhood, experience and mortality, while demanding the attention and respect long denied to women in art.
